MY RECOMMENDATIONS
Involvement in Education and Training
I am a member of the Future Pathologist Champions, an important group set up by CAP to
Promote pathology as an integral part of medical education to be included in clinical rotations
Promote the idea of a new Flexner Report to emphasize the role of the laboratory in Precision Medicine and the role of AI in the laboratory
I work with local Resident run committees to Emphasize Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the medical school and training level with awareness training, including the affects of implicit bias
Continued Active Involvement with CAP and support of PathPAC to Ensure
Adequate reimbursement
Recognition of CAP as a source of standards in pathology reporting with respect to interoperability, thus easing the burden on small practitioners already using CAP endorsed standards included in CAP checklists
Support of our Advocacy Program
Maintain our connection on the Hill and develop relationships with CMS and private payors
Continued Effort to Pursue and Expand upon CAP Role in Proficiency Testing for AI Algorithms that Utilize Pathology Data
Recognize that AI translates as Augmented Intelligence and should work to assist the human and reduce pathologist burden
Liaison with other professional organization in medicine (e.g. ACR, ASCO, AMIA) to ensure that CAP has a role in proficiency testing of algorithms that use any pathology data
Continued Support for CAP Foundation on Global Pathology Efforts in Low and Middle Income Resource Countries
Support recent grant opportunities introduced by CAP Foundation in this area
Continue to Promote the Model of an Integrated Executive and Professional Organization
The College of American Pathologists has maintained an exemplary model of integrating the dedication to the interests of pathologists across the spectrum of small to large practices, including professional interests, and maintaining a business model to support the professional organization at the highest level.
Maintenance of this integration requires recognition of the changing landscape of pathology secondary to innovations in informatics.
