Founding Director, Tennessee Valley CHTN Informatics Core (Completed)
Achievements: Led the CHTN members across the distributed network of six separate academic and associated free-standing institutions in the joint development of informatics system to support prospective, request based inventory of tissue collections and requests across the CHTN (Cooperative Human Tissue Network); Management of Change to adapt to new relational database structure and standards
Project Sponsor, Enterprise-wide Biospecimen Repository at UT M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (Completed)
Achievements: Enhanced existing software system to accommodate migration of 28 federated satellite banks including collections of tissue for clinical use, clinical trials, and translational research and with different informatics systems and bank practices onto a single enterprise system; Called for and helped to implement institution-wide memorandum requiring registration of all tissue collections into single enterprise wide system requiring buy-in from the federated and largely independent banks; Solidified development of SOP’s to follow national and local guidelines for protection of patient’s rights under HIPAA and 21 CFR 50 with audit trail of consent, anonymization and distribution; Management of Change across 28 previously independent tissue banks; Oversight of multimillion dollar projects for data migration and enhancements; Introduced automated methods for identifying OR cases for scheduled tissue collections; Achieved CLIA certification for tissue banking software to contribute to the enablement of transfer of research tissue for clinical use if needed; Designed structure for Clinical Genomics Tissue Bank

Member of CLIA Advisory Committee to make recommendations to the CDC for CLIA initiative, including data modernization.
Chair, Houston Marshall Scholarship Selection Committee (Completed)
Achievements: Chaired a committee of leaders in the field from 5 areas to select candidates to interview and subsequently 4 scholars to be awarded the prestigious Marshall Scholarship from a pool of over 100 applicants, requiring exercises in management of interests across the committee; Achieved diversity across gender, race and ethnicity in guiding selections.

Achievements: Guided the organization through Management of Change during pandemic with pivot to virtual over in-person meetings; Continued to emphasize Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in bringing on new-in-practice members to participate in leadership roles
Member, UT MD Anderson Cancer Center Global Oncology Team (Completed)
Visited Pathology Laboratories in Zambia, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Ghana and introduced Quality Improvement measures for grossing, fixation times and adequacy of specimen for IHC, turn-around times, and pathology reporting appropriate to the resources available to the laboratories.

Previous Chair, CAP PERT Committee & Member of CIPI, currently Advisor to PERT
Achievements: Implementation of Single Source Product Software (SSP) to align paper and electronic protocols; Worked closely with Chair of Cancer Committee to enhance alignment of Cancer Committee and PERT activities; Oversaw introduction of extensive QA/QC protocols for development and release of eCP protocols; Worked with Advocacy on messaging to Office of National Coordinator (ONC) on the definition of Laboratory. and Pathology Reports; Liaison to National Association of Central Cancer Registries (NACCR) High Level Strategic Group (HLSG) with current focus on compliance of pathology practices with 21st C. CURES Act; Leading the development of non-neoplastic protocols to further enhance interoperability for pathology AP reporting to assist pathology practices across the spectrum of small to large for compliance with evolving 21st C CURES Act requirements with respect to interoperability; Work with CIPI to promote CAP as a source of standards in laboratory data interoperability.
